Evergreen Field Station adds a year-round research lodge

Evergreen Field Station, Tumbleberry's 600-acre research forest 40 minutes up Ridgeline Highway, has opened a heated 24-bed lodge that makes year-round research possible for the first time.
The lodge includes a wet lab, a classroom for 30 and a drying room for winter gear. It runs on solar power with battery backup and was built largely from timber thinned on the station's own land.
"Snowpack research does not stop in November," said Vice President for Research Dr. Helena Marsh. "Now our students can follow a full season, not just the summer."
Reservations go through field station manager Hannah Reyes at hreyes@tumbleberry.site.
