Berry Harvest brings in a record 18 tons

The third annual Berry Harvest brought in 18 tons of fruit from the 40-acre campus berry farm, up from 11 tons last year, thanks to more than 900 student, faculty and staff volunteers.
About a third of the harvest went to the Tumble Falls Community Food Bank. The rest is headed to Bramble Commons, where Dining Services will freeze it for jams, smoothies and the famous berry crumble served at finals week.
"The farm only works because people show up," said farm manager Wren Castillo. "We had residence halls competing to fill the most flats, and a chemistry lab that picked through a rainstorm."
Students can volunteer at the farm year-round through the Outdoor Program and Student Involvement.
