Bears cross country sweeps Cascade Conference titles

The Tumbleberry women's and men's cross country teams each won the Cascade Conference championship on Saturday, racing on the Evergreen Grove course just north of campus. It is the first time a Bears program has swept a conference meet.
Sophomore Lena Ostrowski won the women's 6K in 21:04, and the men placed five runners in the top twelve of the 8K. More than 600 students lined the course, many of them carrying the berry-shaped cowbells handed out at Bramble Commons.
"Our athletes train on these hills every morning before class," said head coach Rob Galloway. "Having the whole campus out there for the meet was the best thing I have seen since we started this program."
Both teams now advance to the regional championships in Spokane on November 14.
